Office Duties and Services
Receiving all monies from all sources belonging to the County, such as real estate taxes, state and federal aids, grants and fees for services provided. The Treasurer’s office pays out all monies belonging to the County on the order of the County Board, including disbursement for all expenses incurred, debt payment and County Payroll.

  • Receipt for deposit all monies, keeping a daily balance of the bank account.
  • Reconcile bank statement monthly.
  • Maintain records of Revolving Loan Funds.
  • Invest excess funds so that they will earn the highest interest without risk.
  • Maintain a record of all paid and delinquent taxes.
  • Issue copies upon request.
  • Assist municipal treasurers with their role in tax collecting and with their January and February settlements.
  • Prepare and mail delinquent tax notices.
  • Prepare and mail a reminder notice of postponed taxes due.
  • Print a yearly delinquent tax report for audit.
  • Maintain a current lottery credit file of eligible home owners.
  • Administer the Ag-Use Penalty as outlined by State Statutes.
  • Settle with all taxing jurisdictions in August for all taxes collected and uncollected.
  • Calculate, print and publish a yearly tax deed notice of unpaid taxes that can be taken by tax deed.
  • Prepare and issue tax certificates for sales book on September 1st of each year.
  • Prepare and balance monthly reports from Register of Deeds, Register of Probate and Clerk of Courts.
  • Prepare and publish a report of unclaimed funds.
  • Sell dog and kennel tags for the County dogs.
  • Prepare and adhere to my yearly budget.
